About Us
Lightspeed Systems was first established by Rob McCarthy as McCarthy and Associates and was later incorporated as MacSoft in 1984. MacSoft, for
obvious reasons, didn't turn out to be such a great name for a company focused on integrating disparate systems, namely Wang minicomputers and PCs.
The corporate name change to Lightspeed Systems came in the mid 1990's once our flagship product Lightspeed NVS saturated the Wang marketplace. By
this time, the product had blossomed into a set of products for connecting LAN's and WAN's to legacy Wang VS computers.
Then, with changes abounding in the Banyan market, we developed a couple of products to help Banyan users integrate their Wangs, migrate from
Wang and then eventually migrate from Banyan.
Next up, with our expertise in e-mail connectivity and migration, we developed tools that eased administration in the world of Microsoft Exchange®.
It was then that the real growth of our company began. To keep pace with the rapidly changing industry, in 1995 we bought a T-1 line and thought we'd
share it with a few of our local business friends. Before we knew it, we were a full-fledged Internet service provider with more than 20,000 customers
throughout California. Of course, that meant our network administrators were facing new network traffic management issues every day and that's when we
realized that a single solution capable of tackling each of our issues didn't exist. What did we do? We put our developers to work! As a result, our
object-based software architecture, IP Magic Technology™, was born.
A couple of years into the new millennium it became clear that our IP Magic Technology™ was cool and interesting, but most enterprise network
administrators at that time were unwilling to deploy Windows® based server software at the gateway. We took a hard look at our proprietary technology,
we discovered that our best customers were K-12 educational network IT administrators that struggled to manage complex, growing networks with a very
limited IT staff. Software that was easy to install on familiar Windows® based servers was well received by our friends in the K-12 market. All of our
efforts since have been focused on developing comprehensive network security software specifically for school networks.
After several years of feature, functionality, and design enhancements, TTC has evolved into a sophisticated server and host-based product that offers
robust reporting, content filtering, spam blocking, email archiving and bandwidth management at the gateway. Not to mention unique application control
technology at the desktop. It truly does do it all. But as modern networks change and morph into bigger, more complex beasts, Total Traffic Control will
continue to change as well.
Our mission is to deliver innovative, powerful software solutions and exceptional technical support to our customers. For more information about
