High-Speed Filtering for Large Networks
TTC+: Filtering and reporting for large networks
Got a big pipe? TTC+ appliances built with FreeBSD provide high-speed Internet filtering with reporting and bandwidth management for your large network—accommodating full gigabit speeds.
Using the most accurate, comprehensive, and school-friendly content database, you can:
- block access to inappropriate content by content category
- block access to unknown, uncategorized websites
- block access to proxy servers used to get around the filter
- block access to peer-to-peer services like Bit-Torrent and Gnutella
- block search results for inappropriate keywords and phrases used in search engines
- force Safe Search on Google and Yahoo! so sites containing pornography and explicit sexual content are blocked from search results
- force thumbnail blocking
- allow users to submit blocked sites for review
A growing list of reports includes:
- logged in users – currently and historically
- authenticated users
- quality statistics
- search engine queries
- suspicious search engine queries
- blocked search engine queries
- blocked content summary and details
- blocked sites for review
- blocked sites reviewed and changed
- blocked traffic by category
- unknown URLs
And traffic can be managed by:
- defining groups of machines by IP address or specific services
- allotting a maximum throughput for the group
- viewing real-time graphs that bring attention to any bandwidth hog issues on the network
- reviewing graphs for trends over 30 days.
Filtering Policy Setting: Differentiate Access by User, IP, Group, Org Unit, Domain
Without diminishing throughput. you can set custom policies for various users and groups on a separate TTC v6.03 Server; and TTC+ will enforce those policies.
User types. Student rules. Teacher rules. IT rules. Admin rules. Set up different sets of rules for each set of users—or individual users. Policies can be set for an IP address or range of addresses, user name, group, organizational unit or domain.
Time. Another way to ensure productivity during regular business hours is to limit non-work related web access to after-hours and weekends. For example, you can set shopping and finance sites to only be accessible after 4pm and before 8am, Monday through Friday, and anytime Saturday and Sunday.

Create your own categories. Define new categories to fit your needs--there is no limit to the number of categories you can add.
Allow or block unknown sites. New web sites appear everyday. If they aren't in TTC's expansive database you can optionally allow or block access until you review it. New web sites are automatically sent to Lightspeed for categorization and returned to you the next day.
